Classes:   Starts September 23rd and ends November 11th
8 consecutive Wednesdays  6:30-8:30 pm.

Course Length: (8) 2-hour studio sessions

Materials Provided: Firing, glazes, and 25# of ready-to-use clay. Additional clay is available for purchase.

Student Enrollment: 7 students maximum

Studio Space:  Students enrolled in this class are eligible to partake in one additional open studio session (instructor not present) per week during the span of the eight-week workshop. This works out to be 8 instructor-led sessions and 8 open studio sessions. The Open Studio sessions coincide with our regular business hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays-noon to 9 pm; Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays- noon to 5 pm.

Who should take this class? Perhaps you worked on the wheel during your last Fire Arts pottery class, your high school art class, or at any other pottery facility, and you were able to center, open, and create container forms. Now you would like to improve and add to your skill set.

This class’s curriculum is student-driven. Perhaps you want to focus on larger forms, adding lids, handles, and spouts; we have you covered. Your instructor, Joe Chomyn, will guide you towards improving and enhancing your pottery wheel proficiency. There will also be a focus on safe procedures, proper preparation, and maintenance of the studio spaces. The goal is to come away with increasing confidence in your ability to work independently as a potter and to enjoy yourself in the process!

September 23rd  Studio introduction, material distribution, and begin your work.

September 30th, October 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th Students will continue developing their individualized skills.

November 4th- November 11th Days for wrapping up work, glazing etc and final cleanup of work areas.
