Classes: Wednesdays 6:30-8:30 May 8th – June 26th
Course Length: 8 Instructor led studio sessions.
Studio space: Students enrolled in this class are eligible for one additional day of Open Studio Time per week during the 8 week session. Please note that the instructor will not be present during Open Studio Time.
Fire Arts regular open hours: Tuesday & Thursday noon to 9 pm or Wednesday, Friday & Saturday noon to 5 pm.
Fees: $250 total. The class fee includes $210 Tuition and $40 materials (one 25 lb. bag of clay, use of Fire Arts glazes and firing fees.) Glazes used will be food safe and are fired to cone 6 (^6 – about 2234-2260 degrees fahrenheit)
Format: We will be working with wet clay for the first 6 classes. Class 7 and 8 we will learn about the studio’s glazes. The last night of class will be a critique.
This class is focused on hand-building techniques including slab building, coil building, pinch pots and kurinki as well as diving deep into surface decoration going into stamp making and slip exploration.
