An artist who pays rent at Fire Arts gets access to a fully equipped 8,500 square foot shared studio space to create 3-D work such as pottery, sculpture, jewelry, and more. They will be able to work among others artists, share ideas, or work with a mentor to learn a particular skill for an additional fee. Fire Arts provides the basic equipment and space to create 3-D art. In addition, resident artists have an opportunity to show their work in our showroom, and through the artist’s pages on our website.

CERAMICS – Functional or sculptural ceramic artists are responsible for their own art materials and hand tools, and share the cost of glazes and firing. We supply wheels, slab rollers, extruder, and kilns. We do not do work from commercial molds; all the work you see is unique.
SCULPTURE – Sculptors are responsible for their own art materials, hand tools, supplies, etc. and fuel cost for burning out their wax and casting bronze. They share the cost of the model when working from one in a group. Sculptors can bring their own modeling stand or borrow one if available.
JEWELRY – Artists working in the jewelry area are responsible for purchasing their own materials, specialty hand tools, supplies, etc. Our jewelry area has a professional buffer and metal cutter available, along with two jewelry kilns and work tables. There are some other tools available for use as well.
Artist in Residence fees:
PART TIME Artist in Residence – $90/month
Part-time artists may work when the Fire Arts Studio is open: Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon – 9 pm, and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from noon – 5 pm.
FULL TIME Artist in Residence – Rent is $200 per month. Prospective full time resident artist-candidates are expected to start as part time artists for their first 3 months to demonstrate responsibility and competency. They are also expected to submit a portfolio and references for board approval.
A full time resident artist, upon successful completion of the 3 month trial, gets his or her own key to the building and can work at any time of day or night. This requires a one year commitment.
MENTORING – An artist in residence can arrange mentoring with another artist in residence. A minimum additional fee of $75/month is paid directly to an agreed mentor artist. This fee may be increased, depending on arrangements with the mentor artist.
